Recently, the Department of Medical Oncology 2 at Guangzhou Fuda Cancer Hospital received a special thank-you letter—its pages were adorned with Russian, Chinese, and English, like a constellation of words, conveying heartfelt gratitude across borders and cultures.
In the letter, the patient expressed sincere praise for the hospital with words such as “skilled technology,” “care like family,” and “high-cost performance medical services.” This letter not only serves as a commendation for the medical team but also reminds us that the warmth of healthcare never needs translation.
The patient, a woman from Kazakhstan in her sixties, was diagnosed with an abnormal mass at the right cerebellopontine angle during a routine check-up last August. The mass, measuring approximately 2.4x1.3x2.0 cm, was close to the internal auditory canal and was suspected to be a schwannoma. She traveled to Guangzhou Fuda Cancer Hospital for further diagnosis and treatment.
Upon admission, Dr. Zhu Weibing, the director of Medical Oncology 2, and Dr. Wang Feng, the deputy director, paid close attention to the patient's case. After consultations and evaluations by experts from neurosurgery, radiotherapy, and other departments, they developed a Gamma Knife treatment plan for the right cerebellopontine angle tumor. During the patient's stay, the professionalism and patience of both medical staff and translators significantly alleviated the anxiety caused by the disease and language barrier.
As the patient was about to be discharged, she personally wrote a thank-you letter in Russian, Chinese, and English, sharing her experiences during hospitalization. In the letter, she expressed gratitude not only for the hospital’s excellent technology and sincere care but also for the high cost-performance of the treatment provided.
This trip to China not only gave the patient hope for recovery but also changed her perception of Chinese healthcare. Compared to the high medical costs in her home country, the treatment here was both reasonably priced and transparent while ensuring international standards. The advanced equipment and scientific processes allowed her to experience the exceptional cost-effectiveness of "Chinese healthcare." Now, she no longer worries about exorbitant surgical fees but can focus on treatment with peace of mind, regaining confidence in life.
Finally, we would like to respond to this patient in the three languages used in the letter:
Chinese: 谢谢您的信任!
English: Your healing is our mission.
Russian: Желаю вам огромного здоровья! (Wishing you good health!)
This heartfelt letter, transcending language, will become the warmest light guiding our path forward.
