From Sept. 23 to 25, 2011, the 7th Chinese Academic Conference of Minimally Invasive Therapy on Oncology (Cmito) and the Preparatory Conference of the World Oncology Image-guided Minimally Invasive Therapy Association were held in the beautiful city of the Asian Games-- Guangzhou. More than 1000 specialists have attended the conference. Guangzhou Fuda Cancer Hospital organized the minimally invasive cryosurgery breakout on 25th.
At present, cancer treatment is rolling on the way of minimally invasive therapy, targeted therapy and personalized therapy, and image-guided minimally invasive therapy and biotherapy (including molecular targeted therapy) are considered as one of the hot spots and growing trends of cancer research and therapeutics in the new century. Rapid development of image-guided techniques especially in MR, CT and ultrasound have made minimally invasive therapy more accurate and efficient .
Image-guided cryoablation is one of the therapeutic characteristics of Guangzhou Fuda Cancer Hospital and FUDA has performed over 6000 cases of cryoablations to date which ranks the most in a single medical establishment in the world. Cryoablation is a personalized, humanized and constructive novel mode for cancer treatment which is gaining more and more attention and approval from other medical scholars.
In the Cryosurgery Breakout, minimally invasive specialists from China, Austria, Romania, Italy, Sweden, Japan, Korea, Indonesia and Malaysia gave speeches and demonstrated their own scientific researches in the minimally invasive cryosurgery field. Dr. Lizhi Niu and Dr. Haibo Li from Guanzhou Fuda Cancer Hospital had representations "Follow-up Research on 200 Pancreatic Cancer Cases by Percutaneous Cryosurgery" and "Clinical Analysis of 816 Lung Cancer Cases" respectively, which shown the outstanding achievements FUDA had got in cryoablation.
Moreover, Dr. Lizhi Niu has won second Conference Paper Award in this conference.
