Lately, Fuda oncologists conducted a liver resection surgery for a 32-year-old Indonesian youth. This surgery is specialized because it's not the typical hepatocellular carcinoma; rather, it's a unique type of tumor.
Previously, this young man was diagnosed with hepatocellular carcinoma. However, upon coming to Fudan, doctors suggested that he might not have the usual type of liver cancer. After imaging examinations, radiologists, based on their experience, diagnosed him with a vascular type of tumor. Under the careful arrangement of experts, it was decided that the renowned hepatobiliary surgeon, Professor Wang Jiannan, would perform the resection surgery.
The surgery lasted just over half an hour, and the tumor was successfully removed. It was found during the operation that the tumor was only minimally adhered to the greater omentum, and there was no significant adhesion to the stomach and pancreas. Preliminary biopsy suggests it's a low-grade malignant tumor.
From misdiagnosis to correct diagnosis, and then to successful surgical removal, the outcome is incredibly fortunate for him and his family. Here's to hoping for a bright future ahead for him!
