Beijing, China- - This year at the World Conference on Interventional Oncology (WCIO) 2009, leading oncologists from countries around the world met in Beijing, China to discuss and exhibit the newest advances being made in cancer treatment. Building on the WCIO~s previous successes in Washington, D.C., Italy, and Los Angeles; the WCIO chose China~s capital to represent the leading advances being made by the cancer community in China. Topics covered at the 2009 WCIO included new image guidance systems, collaboration with other cancer specialties, and best methods for patient care.
As one of the leading figures on oncology in China, and as the president of Fuda Cancer Hospital-Guangzhou, Professor Kecheng Xu, helped to deliver the opening address on the first day of the conference to welcome the international group of attendees. That same evening, head surgeon Dr. Lizhi Niu presented his clinical analysis of 816 lung cancer patients treated with argon/helium cryotherapy.
