On the eve of China's National Day, the General Directors of the Hong Kong Chinese Medical Association and Chairman Professor Cao Shizhi were invited to Hong Kong to participate in an evening to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. As a friend of Dr. Xu, Professor Cao has played a key role in the development of Fuda Cancer Hospital, as well as its recent affiliation with the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
During the meeting and celebrations in Hong Kong, Dr. Xu met with the Hong Kong Food and Health Bureau, Dr. York Chow, University of Hong Kong's head professor of surgery, the surgical director of the China Academy of Engineering, and many others in order to discuss greater medical cooperation between Hong Kong and mainland China. Additionally, Dr. Xu met with Wang Wing-lok, an official from the Central Government~s Liaison Office of Coordination; and the Minister of Foreign Affairs in Hong Kong, Mr. Gao Yuchen.
