Followed by unveiling ceremony, five experts from Austria, America and China delivered keynote speeches on cancer prevention, treatment and rehabilitation.
As an expert who initiated to apply cryosurgery for pancreatic cancer in the world, Professor Nikolai N. Korpan delivered a speech on “the basis and perspective of pancreatic cancer cryosurgery”. He mentioned that pancreatic cancer, the “King of Cancer”, had been treated with traditional treatments but without having a significant effect. Applying cryosurgery to treat pancreatic cancer remarkably increases the survival rate and prolongs the survival time of pancreatic cancer patients. The data shows that combination with Percutaneous Cryosurgical Ablation and Seed Knife Therapy in Fuda Cancer Hospital make pancreatic cancer patient’s one-year overall survival rate up to 63% with a median survival time of 15 months. He appreciated Fuda Cancer Hospital being the first hospital in Asia to import the new technique of cancer ablation-irreversible electroporation (NanoKnife Therapy) and perform the first NanoKnife operation for pancreatic cancer on August 12, 2013. The therapy enjoys advantages of thorough effects, short treatment time, being free from thermal effect, and zero damage to intestinal tracts, stomach, blood vessels and nerves etc.
Professor Tan Dongfeng from Department of Pathology and Molecular Pathology of MD Anderson Cancer Center gave a presentation on “live well with cancer”, suggesting paying more attention to cancer-related knowledge popularization to help people understand the importance of prevention and early diagnosis, and be willing to accept more effective standard cancer treatment to achieve the purpose of coexisting with cancer.

Professor Qiao Youlin from Department of Cancer Institute & Epidemiology of Chinese Peking Union Medical College of Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences delivered a speech on “Translational Research in Cervical Cancer”. From his presentation, we learned that HPV can be used for cervical cancer screening for its hypersentivity, high repeatability and strong objectivity. HPV detection and liquid-based cytology are the most effective means of cervical cancer screening. According to the research, the accuracy of CareHPV detection is higher than VIA but almost the same as that of HC-2. CareHPV detection is expected to become the primary affordable screening method for cervical cancer prevention program in the resource-poor areas. Thus cervical cancer is likely to become the first malignant tumor that can be prevented or even eliminated by vaccination, screening, early diagnosis and early treatment.
Professor Li Chaolong, honorary president and chief general surgeon of Fuda Cancer Hospital, is the founder of Modern China Medicine. His speech focuses on Modern China Medicine and Modern Cancer Treatment. Modern China Medicine is a new medical theoretical system created by the Honorary President and Chief Surgeon of Fuda Cancer Hospital, Professor Li Chaolong.
