On December 5th, 2014, the prelude of the Forum on Green Treatment of Cancer –Cancer Prevention, Treatment and Rehabilitation, FUDA Feature Treatment Press Conference was held in Fuda Cancer Hospital, which had attracted media friends from Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, India, Philippines and Middle East area.
Media friends from Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, India, Philippines and Middle East area attended the press conference
Professor Xu Kecheng, President of the International Society of Cryosurgery and Guangdong Provincial Light of Life Society for Cancer Rehabilitation, delivered a green cancer treatment-themed presentation, introducing current cancer treatment’s limitations and proposing people-oriented new concept of cancer treatment. The concept simply kills "cancer” rather than treating patient as a person shall be abandoned. Fuda Cancer Hospital combines Cryosurgical Ablation (CSA), Cancer Microvascular Intervention (CMI) and Combined Immunotherapy for Cancer (CIC) and personalized therapy, that is, "3C + P" treatment model.

Vice President of the Asian Society of Cryosurgery and President of Fuda Cancer Hospital, Dr. Niu Lizhi gave a presentation on applying a breakthrough treatment technique- cryosurgical ablation for “King of Cancer"-pancreatic cancer. According to the medical literature, 92% of pancreatic cancer patients have metastases when diagnosed, 53% of those patients have distant metastasis and most of them cannot undergo surgical removal. After pancreatic cancers receive conventional treatments such as chemotherapy and radiotherapy, the average survival time is only 3 to 6 months, whilst one-year survival rate is less than 10%. Fuda Cancer Hospital took the initiative to apply cryosurgical ablation to treat pancreatic cancer. Now we have the data to show that one-year overall survival rate of those patients who have undergone percutaneous cryoablation therapy and seed implantation therapy reaches to 63%, with a median survival time of 15 months. In order to unceasingly explore non-surgical treatments for pancreatic cancer, Fuda Cancer Hospital first introduced new technique of cancer ablation (NanoKnife Therapy)-irreversible electroporation approved by the US FDA in April 2012, and performed the first NanoKnife operation for pancreatic cancer in August 12, 2013. The therapy enjoys the advantages of thorough effects, short treatment time, being free from thermal effect, and zero damage to intestinal tracts, stomach, blood vessels and nerves.
Dr. Chen Jibing from Biological Treatment Center of Fuda Cancer Hospital gave a presentation on a new way to prevent cancer recurrence and metastasis - cancer stem cell vaccine. As a leading Asian biological and immunotherapy center, The Biological Treatment Center at Fuda Cancer Hospital cooperates with the University of Michigan to carry out seven types of common cancer stem cell vaccine (CSCV) research. The technology has been applyed in over 200 clinical cases in the past two years. We learned from the clinical data that one-year effective rate of the vaccine reaches 60%. Cancer stem cell vaccine can put off cancer metastasis and recurrence by 7 to 12 months, and almost no side effects, making it a new biological method to prevent cancer recurrence and metastasis.

In recent years, many domestic and overseas patients with abdominal tumors have been attracted to come to Fuda by its reputation. Most of them have undergone more than twice surgeries and been considered cannot undergo surgery any more. Their tumors were successfully removed in Fuda. Professor Li Chaolong, the chief general surgeon of Fuda Cancer Hospital, shared the tremendous achievements Fuda has made in giant abdominal tumor treatments in the form of typical cases with medial friends, such as 10kg of tumors was removed from 44-year-old American liposarcoma patient Mr. Nasir, 25 * 24 * 23.5 * cm of leiomyosarcoma from a 59-year-old patient from China, and 11-year-old teratoma patient Han Bingbing from Heilongjiang Province was successfully free from 15kg’s tumor burden.
In the following Question and Answer section, media friends has heated responses and asked plentiful questions to the speakers concerning new technique of cancer treatment, “3C+P” treatment model and pancreatic cancer treatment etc.
When the press conference ended, Media friends visited and interviewed patients and experts in the hospital, and watched the cryosurgery demonstration on the surgery room.
